Nancy Drew 01- The Secret of the Old Clock- Carolyn Keene  is the first volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series written under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. It was first published on April 28, 1930, and rewritten in 1959 by Harriet Stratemeyer Adams.

Carolyn Keene is the pseudonym of the authors of the Nancy Drew mystery stories and The Dana Girls mystery stories, both produced by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. In addition, the Keene pen name is credited with the Nancy.

My Thoughts

The Secret of the Old Clock- the first book of the mystery – adventure of Nancy Drew’s detective stories. A simple, bold and kind hearted girl who steps out of the crowd to help others in need. On the way, of solving the crime, she helps many people and made good friends.

Nancy Drew Helping people in need

In this world of chaos, when we think of helping anyone, the first thing that comes to our mind, what if while helping others something wrong happens to us? And why shouldn’t we think like that, because they are people around us who are ready to hurt you for their own benefits.

But there are people in this world that comes forward and help people in need without thinking about the consequences. Such people make us believe in humanity and faith. There is hope for us, hope for the world, hope that humanity is still alive in this world and making the world a better place.

The Story line

In the story of “01-The Secret of the Old Clock” Nancy Drew goes on a hunt to fulfill the hope of people who are in some financial debt and their hopes are lost when Mr. Josiah Crowley dies and all his inheritance goes to the Topham Family. But there are rumors of a later will that Mr. Crowley makes before he dies. This takes Nancy Drew on a journey to solve her first mystery.

What I liked about this Novel

Nancy Drew is a strong and beautiful girl, who loves mystery and is always ready to help people in need. She is very kind and understands the feeling of others. She is a friend who will try her best of her ability to help you.

I loved Nancy’s kindness towards others people. She tries her best to bring smile on the faces of the people she meets and sometimes putting herself in danger for others. Still she bravely comes out of that situation. She is the perfect role model for kids and teenagers.

About the Novel

On a drive in her new car gifted by her father Carson Drew, Nancy saw little Judy jumping from the bridge to save herself from the speeding vehicle. On saving Judy, Nancy meets her aunties and many others like them going through some financial debts. But Mr. Josiah Crowley promises them all a part of his inheritance that would solve all their problems. All their hopes are broken when on Mr. Crowley’s death all his inheritance goes to the Topham family. A rumor spreads about a later will which takes Nancy Drew on a journey of a first mystery 01- The Secret of the Old Clock.
