About the comic “The Sandman”

The Sandman was a completely new kind of comic, and it became one of the flagship titles for Vertigo, a line of adult-themed horror and fantasy series launched by DC in 1993. While McKean stayed on as cover artist for the book’s entire run, a rotating series of interior artists helped flavor each individual story arc. In addition, the stories were unlike any previously seen in mainstream comics.

The protagonist was Morpheus, the manifestation of the ability of sentient beings to dream. Like many other pantheons, the Endless—Morpheus’s siblings—were godlike beings with human foibles and drives. A typical story was so littered with literary allusions and historical references that Internet fan sites soon began offering detailed annotations of individual issues. By the time the series ended in 1996, The Sandman had captured an enviable list of awards and was DC Comics’ top-selling title.

My Thought

Recently while surfing through YouTube I came across an ad from Audible about the “The Sandman”. The ad was very interesting, so I decided to download and check the book. The start was different from the other books that I have listened in Audible. The sound effects were just amazing, it didn’t felt like a movie. I was so amazed, which made me wonder the way the actors gave their voice to the characters which created a life of their own. The book is narrated by the Author Neil Gaiman himself, and he has the most captivating voice along with the main character Morpheus voice given by James McAvoy

I use to read books for my nieces when they were kids, but I wasn’t that captive like Neil Gaiman. I tried to change my voice according to the flow of the story, but after listening to Neil Gaiman, now I know there is lots of thing to learn about storytelling. The fact is I’m all out of words to express my feeling.

The other voice that shackles you in the voice of “Morpheus the lord of dreams” by James McAvoy. He is a amazing actor. Let me change, he is a great actor. No matter which character he plays, the scared little name Wesley Gibson from Wanted, Dr. Charles Xavier from X-men, the person suffering from 23 personality from Spilt or some comedy act in SNL, he plays all his character with perfection.
